FOSSIL DROP I

About This Project

In Fossil Drop, a single drop is caught between two times: petrified water and stone in motion. The form, born from the fluid gesture of a Drop, solidifies in alabaster as if the water had left its memory imprinted in the rock.

The piece is divided between matter and reflection.

The alabaster preserves the fossil trace of flow; the mirror returns a present that shifts every second. One fixes time, the other displaces it.

This dichotomy —stone that appears to move and water that seems to have stopped— turns the work into a frozen instant where past and present meet.

Fossil Drop is the memory of a movement that became form.

Carved from an exceptional block of alabaster, with natural mineral filtrations that create subtle veils in tones of white, pink, and brown.
