About Amarist Studio
Amarist Studio is the artistic practice of Aran Lozano, a Spanish artist and designer based in the Pyrenees, Spain, working between contemporary art, collectible design and material experimentation.
Founded in 2014 by Aran Lozano and Clara Campo, the studio grew from a shared background shaped by craftsmanship, nature and experimentation. Over the years, Aran has led and developed Amarist Studio’s artistic direction, consolidating a sculptural language built around matter, light and the observation of natural processes.
Through hand-carved stone, organic forms and luminous materials, Amarist Studio creates objects that move between function and sculpture, exploring ecological fragility, material transformation and the traces left by nature, time and human impact.
Arán Lozano
Born in Spain in 1988, Arán Lozano grew up in the Pyrenees, surrounded by raw materials, craftsmanship and the workshop of his artisan father. This environment shaped his early relationship with tools, matter and manual experimentation.
In the Pyrenees, Aran met Clara Campo, with whom he founded Amarist Studio in 2014. Their shared connection to this landscape, to craftsmanship and to the natural environment became part of the studio’s early identity.
Since then, Arán has led and developed Amarist Studio’s artistic direction, shaping a sculptural language that moves between contemporary art, collectible design and craft. His work explores the transformation of matter through stone, light, reflective surfaces and organic elements, creating objects with symbolic, environmental and material narratives.
Artistic Practice
Amarist Studio’s practice is rooted in the observation of natural phenomena and the transformation of matter. Its work explores erosion, geological memory, organic structures, light and the tensions between nature, human intervention and time.
Rather than treating materials as neutral surfaces, Aran Lozano approaches them as carriers of meaning. Stone, light, mirror, concrete or organic forms become ways of reflecting on fragility, permanence, transformation and the changing relationship between humans and the natural world.
Within this broader practice, Aqua Fossil has become one of Amarist Studio’s most significant bodies of work: a series that imagines water as a vanished element, preserved through stone, erosion and translucent mineral forms.
Odile Moreno Art Advisor & Consultan.
“My first encounter with the artistic duo Amarist dates back to 2017 in New York. “The City That Never Sleeps” hosted the Art New York art fair the first week in May, at Pier 94 located in the southwest of Manhattan. It is common for large art fairs to open an exhibition space competition for new rising talents; what surprised me is that the winners were two young Spaniards with such a visually effective proposal and with an even more powerful message.Amarist, formed by Clara Campo and Arán Lozano, embraced the opportunity and proposed a combination of pieces for the fair headed by the installation: “Welcome?” and complemented with “Fragment of border” and the solidarity jewelry line “Welcome?”A set of moving works that invited the New York jet-set, regulars at art fairs, to reflect on the exploration of social conflicts, borders and humanitarian issues; a reality far from their daily lives. “Welcome?” served as a clear example of Amarist’s ability to transcend traditional artistic boundaries.
Since then, I understood that Amarist was not simply a collective of artists; they were storytellers, advocates and activists; exposing conflictive situations at an international level and using the universal language of art to convey its message of change.
Over the years they have continued with their great career and perpetuated the task of raising awareness and confrontation, they have created a brand, their work has become recognizable internationally, something essential to survive in the art market and in a world where we are constantly bombarded by images.”
