In this piece, the circle becomes a meeting point between matter and time. Its round form—linked to natural cycles and celestial bodies—serves as the foundation for uniting stone and reflection.
The alabaster occupies one half like a fragment of an ancient satellite, a surface bearing traces of erosion and the memory of a past where water once moved through it, leaving its flow engraved in the stone. Its veins and textures evoke a fossilized terrain, shaped by a presence that has already vanished.
The other half, the mirror, reflects the observer while suggesting a sense of cosmic void: what we see is always an instant slipping away, a present that turns into memory as soon as it is observed.
The creation process involves carving, hollowing, and polishing the alabaster by hand until light can pass through it gently. Working with this material requires almost ritual attention, each gesture contributing to the stone’s transformation.
The result is a piece where dense matter and fleeting reflection coexist, two overlapping layers of time: what endures and what fades.
