Fossil Moon IX Mirror

About This Project

Fossil Moon VII and IX take the collection’s narrative to even more evocative depths, where the carved alabaster holds the secrets of the ocean. The sculpted forms in the translucent stone suggest the fluid movement of water now fossilized, and within its curves and subtle details emerge delicate reminiscences of seashells, as if these pieces preserve the memory of ancient marine dwellers. The natural textures and veins of the material become whispers of a submerged world, frozen in time, inviting the viewer to imagine stories hidden in the earth’s depths.

The dialogue between the mirrored section and the sculpted surface reinforces this connection between the celestial and the terrestrial, between an aquatic past and a fossilized future. The mirror, reflecting the observer’s gaze, becomes a vision of time, while the carved forms invite us to dream of an ocean that no longer exists, an ecosystem transformed into an eternal relic. These works are a poetic tribute to the fragility of nature and a reminder of the life cycles that fade away, leaving behind indelible fossils of what once was.
